In our first article, we’d like to deal with a rather complex topic trying to explain the reason why people don’t listen to certain musical genres.
It could be that lots of them don’t know specific kind of music, thus, they ignore its existence or, sometimes, they give up on a genre after just one play… out of personal preference.
We don’t want to judge anybody taste, but trying to offer a reason to trigger curiosity instead and to explain why we are confident it’s important to pay attention to a variety of realities that are unfairly overlooked due to needless prejudices.
We have noticed that “decisions” about what is enjoyable and what is not, are often made a little too rashly, considering that not all music can be appreciated by everybody.
It’s surely happened to you as well, because people rely too much on their own perception and fail to take the time to reflect on the context and meaning behind the music.
We met lots of folk who underestimated these aspects leaving out some musical genres; we aim to bring you closer to various genres and artists by discussing not only their musical work, this is the goal of our blog.
Remember, real music is expressive art and it has an indispensable significance; if you ignore it and rely only on your perception, you might end up limiting yourself, missing out on the chance to explore new sounds, discover new musical journeys, and expand your cultural perspective.
We proposed metal more times to whom despised it, not necessarily forcing it enter through the main door, but rather using “side ways”. Getting closer to a genre using a different approach, can make you see value in what you used to reject without a second thought.
We tried to prove all of this through black metal, taking into account related genres, performed by the same characters within the black-themed setting.
We are talking about nordic folk that surrounds itself with a mystic aura, similar to black metal, exalting a certain atmosphere and recreating the typical sound of Scandinavian lands. When you listen to it, you are totally caught up in the Nordic world.
The unmistakable sound of its special and unusual instruments envelops you in that cold nature, leading you through a dimension that is almost indescribable in words.
We are sure that listening to nordic folk will eventually make you appreciate the magnificence of black metal. By getting closer to the atmosphere of the North and its musicians, you will probably understand the choices that led them to create such an extreme genre.
Keep following us, in the next article we’ll talk to you about some artists who had first-hand experiences in the black metal world, but they deserve to be listened to for their valuable contribution to nordic folk.
